Leeds - Saint John the Evangelist: mezzanine
The Church of Saint John the Evangelist new Briggate, Leeds
We were appointed by The Churches Conservation Trust for two phases or alteration work. The first was to refurbish the vestry (added in the 1860s by architect Richard Norman Shaw who had campaigned to save the church from demolition) and the second to provide a mezzanine in the tower. The Trust wanted to promote this wonderful and unusual building of the 1630s and use the vestry as a regional office for staff and volunteers. The work involved obtaining Listed Building Consent for the alterations and Faculty for installing an air source heat pump in the churchyard to provide heating to the vestry and under tower space.
