Beverley - Saint Mary
The Parish Church of Saint Mary, Beverley This is a glorious building. Indeed many architects and scholars have noted the thrill and importance of St Mary’s. "Unequalled in England and almost without rival on the continent of Europe" said Sir Tatton Sykes. David was inspecting architect between 2005 and 2018 and in the process of getting accross the building’s great repair needs to the PCC carried out a number of smaller projects. This included reviving the Pugin-installed perimeter brick drainage culvert, repairing the worst of the north Nave Clerestory pinnacles (together with some excellent new stone carving) and installing WCs at the west end.
